Course Description:
Understanding how young children grow and develop is essential for providing meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. In Understanding Developmental Domains, participants will explore the key areas of early childhood development, including cognitive, social-emotional, language and communication, and fine and gross motor development. This session examines typical developmental milestones, how the domains work together to support the whole child, and ways educators can recognize potential developmental delays or challenges. Participants will gain practical strategies for supporting children’s growth across developmental areas and using their understanding of development to strengthen everyday teaching practices and learning experiences.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify key developmental domains and typical milestones in cognitive, social-emotional, language and communication, and fine and gross motor development.
• Recognize potential developmental delays or challenges through an understanding of typical child development.
• Apply developmentally appropriate strategies that support children’s growth and learning across multiple developmental domains.
