Course Description:
Understanding how children process sensory information is essential for creating supportive, responsive learning environments where every child can thrive. In Understanding Sensory Needs in Early Childhood, participants will explore how sensory processing influences young children's behavior, emotional regulation, participation, and learning. This engaging session introduces the different sensory systems and helps educators recognize sensory-seeking, sensory-avoiding, and sensory overload behaviors. Through real-world classroom examples and practical strategies, participants will learn to identify individual sensory needs, make meaningful environmental adjustments, and implement proactive supports that promote regulation, engagement, and independence. Emphasizing behavior as a form of communication, this training equips educators with tools to create inclusive, sensory-responsive classrooms that support every child's ability to participate, play, and learn.
