Length: 2 hours (Live Webinar – December 10 at 6PM CT)
Course Description: Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) is more than a checklist — it’s a mindset for how we support young children as thinkers, creators, and learners. In this engaging session, participants will explore the core principles of DAP and how they guide intentional teaching for children ages 3–5. Through discussion, examples, and hands-on reflection, participants will connect theory to real classroom practice, examining how to balance child-led exploration with teacher-guided instruction. This session empowers educators and leaders to create environments that meet children where they are, while helping them reach new levels of growth and independence.
Learning Objectives:
-
Define the core principles and purpose of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP).
-
Examine how to apply DAP to daily routines, classroom environments, and instructional decisions.
-
Reflect on how to balance child-led exploration with intentional teacher guidance to promote optimal learning.
Certificate Information:
Participants will receive 2 hours of professional development and a certificate of completion upon attending the live session.

from 520 reviewsI enjoyed my time learning about the different approaches I can take when dealing with conflicts in the classroom, and I also learned more about the way kids think
Training was very informative and very useful. However, I would like the presenter to remind attendees to remain respectful and quite, because some of us have a very hard time concentrating and to actively listen when people talk over the presenter.
Melissa always strives for opportunities for learning thru all aspects
I thought I was coming to train for ECE, but not only received tools and knowledge to bring back to my Program, but I acquired skills to identify with my own trauma and respond to triggers with emotional intelligence! Want more!
I appreciate the information on how to help children who have experienced trauma and how we need to tecognize our own triggers before we can help those we care for.
